I'm absolutely smitten with my a4. Originally I had my sights set on the phantom black pearl effect, however I ended up with the dakkar beige, and get a slew of compliments on it! I'm happy I made that choice. I would definitely recommend getting a model with the rear assist, and backup camera. It is such a lovely thing to have. It's drives like a dream, and a very fun dream at that. I have little patience for the navigation system's voice, but I'm learning to tolerate it. Overall, the '09 a4 is an incredible car that offers good fuel economy, and is also very comfortable and quite fast indeed! If you're debating between this car, and perhaps its counterparts in BMW and mercedes, I urge you to choose the audi. You really get the most out of your investment, plus with looks like this how can you pass? The BMW's are much too austere. The interior is like stone; rather uncomfortable. Plus, BMW's are monopolizing the road. Mercedes are just a bit average looking, to be frank. If you want to stand out, get the new a4; you won't be disappointed....read morehide

I moved from an A6 Allroad with 100K miles to the A4 Avant. Fabulous styling, inside and out. No turbo lag compared to the Allroad, but slightly smaller, lower, and tighter on fit. The dashboard is beautiful, the MMI is fine after a little learning, and the Nav works well. I wish the speakers were as good as the prior Allroad. Love the extended sunroof. Over 28 mpg average after 5000 miles. With all the hype over the Q5 (identical dash and controls in the A4), price point and dealing on the A4 much better......read morehide

Can't see how anyone can write a bad thing about this car. I've had it for 6 months now and put 8000k miles on it. This is a man's car. Quick, responsive, stylish who can ask for more. I considered benz, bmw, acura, and lexus. Glad I pick the Audi. The Lexus I must say has a more cushion tide to it; but still the Audi wins in my book. Overall great car to travel with. This is a road car for sure. I went from VA to Tenn and the 2.0T put all those V8s to shame! And let me say Interstate 81 is unforgiving. You have to have some guns to travel that part of the country!...read morehide

Bought this car. Was very excited. Looked wonderful. Awesome sound system with Bang/Olufson. Then I turned it on and drove it. Absolute worst tire noise and sunroof noise of all time. Seems to vibrate while driving. Taken in...apparently all "normal for Audi". Took a hit...now drive a BMW.....much happier. DON"T BUY THIS CAR is my advice...read morehide

I gave serious consideration to the G37 and BMW 3 series but purchased the A4. Even though the G37 has far more hp, I find the A4 much more fun to drive. Handling is great and the turbo works well once it kicks in - it takes a second or so to do so which took a little getting used to.
I prefer the A4's interior and styling over the BMW. The A4 fit and finish is excellent. It's a rock-solid car that gives me secure comfort with 2 children's car seats in the back (adequate room for them too). Exterior styling initially turned me away when I first saw pics online but I became hooked on it once I saw the 09 A4 in person - photos do not do justice for this car or it's paint colors.
I also found the base A4 to be quite well equipped and a better value than the higher-end cars considered. It's my first Audi and first German car and I'm loving it. After considerable research, lot-browsing and test drives I'm quite happy with my 2009 A4....read morehide

this is my second A4 and its a great car. this one is very sophisticated in terms of technology compared to my previous 2006. the mileage is better, the car is quicker and there's more room inside. the balance of the car is better as is steering feel and handling generally. i don't have a sport package so its not a racing machine but the platform is clearly suited for that. i think the A4 and 3 series are close now with the 3 being more sports focused however the A4 is beautiful inside and out and is much less expensive...read morehide

I just bought an 09 A4 premium plus with Audi Interface and sport package. Let me start by saying that I test drove every car in the class (BMW 335, Infiniti G37, Lexus 250/350 etc). Not one of these cars can compare to the overall looks of both the exterior and especially the interior of the car. As far as performance goes, I feel the BMW was the "best performance" engine wise, but the Audi was not far behind. With the BMW costing about $13000 more, it was an easy decision to go with the Audi. Even the BMW dealer told me that if the BMW engine had the interior of the Audi, it would be the best selling car out there. I felt the BMW interior was way inferior. The suspension on the Audi is tight, but thats what you have to expect with the sport package. Get it on a smooth road or open highway, the ride is incredible! I have to say I was impressed with the gas mileage (28 mpg highway) on my very first tank of gas. I drove it up the coast of California and that was the average. Since then, now that the car is "broken in" the mpg are getting even better. (Last tank I was getting 31 mpg on the highway and I have a heavy foot!)...read morehide

I purchased a new 2009 A4 Premium Plus 2.0T AWD in July 2009. I opted to go for the 2nd tier trim as the Premium was OK but I really liked the additions to the interior that come with the Premium Plus and of course, the Xenon Headlights and daytime "dot" running lamps. Most sites will say it costs about $3,000-4,000 more for these options.
I love the car so far. Interior is beautiful with a number of useful features including voice dialed phone entries (syncs up w/ my iPhone), dual climate control, milage readout (mpg), hands free radio/phone controls, etc.
I started negotiations w/ the dealer at roughly $35,000 sticker price (which matched the SRP I found on a few web sites for the options I chose) and worked my way down to about $30,500. Financed through Audi w/ a pretty good rate, I was satisfied w/ the purchase process.
The keys are cool, with all the data for the car being stored in them (you can simply take your key to an Audi servicer and they can tell if anything is wrong w/ your car by looking at the data on the key).
The handling is great and overall feel on smooth roads is as if you were floating. The new body style turns heads and the "dot" headlamps are really cool. The stock rims are faily plain but look good when they're clean I guess.
The only complaints, if you can call them complaints, are the learning curve on driving w/ a 4-cyl Turbo compared to my last car (6-cyl) and the ride can be rough on a non-perfect freeway surface. The turbo is operated by the exhaust from the vehicle which supplies the turbo "boost" to the engine, which means you have to get the engine going BEFORE the power is there. That means the car can be sluggish from start but then "jump" forward when the turbo kicks in, but with a little time behind the wheel you get used to it. Good acceleration at speed but a little slow for the first few mph's.
I'm still messing w/ the best way to drive and get a smooth ride out of it. If the road is perfectly flat, you're floating on a cloud, but if the freeway has a few bumps in it, you can really feel them sometimes.
Overall I'm VERY happy w/ my purchase and would recommend the Audi A4 to anyone considering a fine automobile who is tired of all the BMWs driving around (I'm in So Cal and there's a BMW in every other garage, though they may be 15 years old...). Give one a test drive and I think you'll REALLY like the look and if you like the feel, then go for it....read morehide
